What this app is

Servi helps you collect recipes, plan a week of meals, build a shopping list, and ask questions about your own library. It is provided as-is for personal, household use.

Servi is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Apple's standard EULA), and these terms add to it. Where they differ, Apple's EULA governs your licence to use the app.

Recipes you import, and how importing works

When you import a recipe from a link, your device loads that page — the same request your browser would make if you opened the link yourself, from your own device and connection. The page is then read to pull out the ingredients and method, and the result is saved privately to your household. No copy is shared with other users of the app, and this service does not crawl, bulk-download, or keep its own library of anyone's recipes.

Recipes remain the property of whoever published them. Every imported recipe keeps the author and publication the source page names, along with a link back to it, and the app is built to send you to the original when you cook. Your imported copy is for your own household's personal use — do not use the app to republish or redistribute someone else's recipes.

If you publish recipes and have a concern

If you are a recipe author or publisher and something here concerns you — how your work is credited, or you would prefer this app not import from your site — write to the address at the bottom of this page.

Here is what happens when you do. We will confirm you speak for the site (an email from its domain is enough) and reply within seven days. If you ask not to be imported from, your domain is added to a block list on our server and the app stops importing from it — every page on it, for every user, permanently, and you do not have to give a reason. Search suggestions stop including your site at the same time. We keep a record of every request and what we did about it.

Two things that request cannot do, stated plainly rather than left for you to discover. It does not delete recipes people already saved: those copies are on their own phones, like a page they printed, and we have no access to them. And it does not stop anyone reading your site — we are only declining to read it for them.

We also honour robots.txt for the only requests our server makes to publisher pages, which is reading the preview image and site name for a search suggestion. Recipe pages themselves are loaded by your device, not by us.

Content generated by AI, and why you must check it

Recipe extraction, simplified cooking steps, Ask answers, suggested recipes and generated images are produced by an automated system. It gets things wrong. Anything it produces — in particular ingredients, allergens, and any statement about what is safe for someone to eat — is a starting point for your own judgement, not a substitute for it.

When a recipe is imported we also write its method out in plainer, shorter sentences, and show you that version first. The steps as the source published them are kept and are one tap away on the recipe, under "Show as written". If a simplified step and the original disagree, the original is the recipe.

Allergy information in this app is automated and may be incomplete or wrong. Always read the actual ingredients and packaging yourself. Never rely on this app to decide whether a food is safe for someone with a food allergy or intolerance. Nothing in the app is medical advice.

Acceptable use

Do not use the app to break the law, to harass anyone, or to generate content that is abusive, hateful, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate for a household setting. Notes and names typed into the family rating links are visible to other members of your household; you are responsible for what your household writes there. Report anything that looks wrong to the address below and it will be looked into.

Your Apple Account

Servi has no sign-in. It recognises your installation through your Apple Account (see the privacy policy), so keep your Apple Account to yourself and use it only for your own household. You can delete the data our server holds for it at any time from Settings → Delete My Data, which permanently removes your household data.

Purchases

Servi Plus is a one-time purchase. It removes the twenty-recipe limit on your library, turns on iCloud sync between your Apple devices, and adds a fixed number of AI credits that do not expire and are not refilled. You buy it with your Apple Account and it is held on the account identified by your Apple Account. To restore it on another device, choose Restore Purchases on a device signed in to that Apple Account. A purchase belongs to one Apple Account at a time, and it does not renew or recur.

AI credits are what the AI features spend. An AI credits plan is a monthly auto-renewing subscription: it adds a set number of credits for each billing period, those credits reset at the start of the next period and do not roll over, and the credits that came with Servi Plus are kept and spent only once a period's credits are gone. A plan renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends, and it is managed — changed or cancelled — under your Apple Account in the Settings app. The price is shown in the app before you buy. A one-month pass is the same credits for thirty days and does not renew at all.

Credits are an allowance included with the app, not money or a stored balance: they cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash, and they carry no value outside Servi. Payment is taken by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under the terms of the App Store; where consumer law gives you a right to withdraw from a purchase, you exercise it through Apple. Deleting your data gives up any credits left; the Servi Plus purchase itself is not lost, and you can restore it with Restore Purchases. If a purchase is refunded, the access it paid for ends.

Changes to Servi

We may change, add or remove features of the app and the service at any time, for example to improve it, to keep it secure, or because an outside service it relies on changes. Changes that do not make the service worse for you need no notice.

What an AI feature costs in credits, and how many credits a plan, a pass or Servi Plus includes, is fixed for each purchase at the time you make it. A plan keeps those terms for as long as it keeps renewing, including when you change between plans; if it ends and you subscribe again later, the terms at that time apply. We may set different costs and allowances for purchases made after a change, for any reason. Lowering a cost may apply to everyone. A feature added later costs what it costs when it is added.

We may make a change to the features of the service straight away, without advance notice, where it is needed for security, to stop misuse or abuse, to comply with the law or a regulator, or because an AI provider changes or withdraws its service. Such a change never alters the credit costs or allowances of a purchase you have already made. We tell you as soon as we reasonably can.

Credits that have already been added to your account, including the credits that come with Servi Plus, are not taken away or reduced by a change.

If a change significantly and negatively affects something you paid for, you can end the plan or pass, and ask Apple for a refund where the law gives you one.

Fair use

To keep Servi fair and affordable, each feature can only be used so often in a minute, a day and 30 days, and an account's AI use per day is capped. Reaching a limit pauses that feature until it resets and uses no credits. We may suspend an account that repeatedly works around these limits or uses Servi in an automated way.

Availability and liability

This is a small personal project. The service may change or stop working, and no uptime is promised. If the service stops, everything on your device keeps working and you can still export it. To the extent the law allows, the app is provided without warranty, and its author is not liable for losses arising from its use — including any consequence of relying on automatically generated recipe, ingredient, or allergen information.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change materially, we publish the new version here, with its date, at least 30 days before it takes effect. A change never alters the prices or allowances of a purchase you have already made. If you keep using Servi after that, you accept the changed terms. If you do not accept them, stop using Servi and cancel any plan you have.
